City employees host Latino Heritage Celebration on October 11
Seattle Police Officer Adrian Diaz to receive award

Seattle, WA - Seattle's Latino City Employees will host the third annual Latino Heritage Celebration at the Seattle Aquarium on Saturday, October 11, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event will feature food, live music, dancing and free tours of the Aquarium. The celebration is open to the public (21 and over) with a $20 suggested donation.

Mayor Greg Nickels and Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske will present veteran Seattle Police Officer Adrian Diaz with the 2008 Latino Heritage Award. Adrian Diaz has been a Seattle police officer for eleven years, most recently assigned to special projects to reduce youth violence. He holds a B.A. in criminal justice from Central Washington University and a Masters in Public Administration from the UW Evans School of Public Affairs. In his time off, Diaz is an assistant wrestling coach at Chief Sealth High School and the Education Chair for the King County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Latino City Employees (LCE) is a voluntary organization of City of Seattle employees who encourage professional excellence, promote education within the Latino community, and support cultural diversity in Seattle.
